Akaku Gears up for 2008

KAHULUI, HI, December 27 – Akaku: Maui Community Television (Akaku) announced today its weekend closure to allow members of its staff time off to gear up for improved community television services for Maui county in the New Year. Akaku’s studio offices and Media Lab at 333 Dairy Road, Kahului, will be closed to the public on Saturday, December 29 through Tuesday, January 1, 2008. The site will resume servicing the public on January 2, during normal service hours.

“Our staff worked incredibly hard this year to introduce the internet and broadcast technologies into Maui’s living rooms on issues that matter to our public and we’re looking forward to further enhancing our services next year as well,” says Jay April, CEO/President of Akaku: Maui Community Television. “Akaku enjoyed an eventful year in 2007, including the relaunch of our organization, the introduction of an expanded Board of Directors and the creation of the Maui Daily—our latest community-created current events program.”
