Akaku would like to thank Maui County’s communities for their support and participation during this year’s coverage of the nation’s and Maui Nui’s General Election on Tuesday, Nov. 4. With simulcasts on KAOI 1110 AM, KAKU-LP 88.5 FM and a Live webstream airing on akaku.org and generous cash and in-kind donations from local businesses, residents of Maui County were able to enjoy the excitement of covering and viewing the elections returns in their homes, cars and in their communities. Akaku Closures: Thanksgiving Thursday and Friday

The studio offices and media lab of Akaku: Maui Community Television at 333 Dairy Road, Kahului, and the Akaku: Moloka`i Media Center in Kaunakakai, will be closed to the public on Thursday, Nov. 27 and Friday, Nov. 28 for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Producers’ Night Lights Up With a Free Film Screening!

Akaku Hosts Media Salon with Screening of “Light it Right” on Friday, Nov. 14, 6-8:30 pm

Independent community producers are invited to the Akaku: Maui Community Television (Akaku) Media Lab at 333 Dairy Road, Kahului, on Friday, Nov. 14, from 6:00 – 8:30 p.m. to view the 90-minute instructional film, “Light it Right: Contemporary Lessons in Video Lighting”. Community members are encouraged to share their opinions and perspectives at “Producers Night,” Akaku’s media salon event dedicated entirely to producers. The event is free, and includes light pupus and beverages. Interested individuals are urged to confirm their attendance by calling 871-5554. (more…)

Akaku: Maui Community Television (Akaku) empowers the community's voice through access to media. Akaku is a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation that airs content created by the community for the community. Community members on Maui, Moloka'i, and Lana'i are encouraged to submit programming to the station, create their own television shows and have their voices heard by fellow community members.
