Akaku hosts Maui News staff writer Ilima Loomis to share her life as an investigative reporter on Friday, July 31 from 6-8pIlima Loomism

Akaku: Maui Community Television will host award-winning journalist and The Maui News staff writer Ilima Loomis on Friday, July 31 from 6-8pm at its digital lounge at 333 Dairy Road, Kahului. Independent community producers and attendees will able to ask questions and “talk-story” with Loomis after a brief presentation on the theme: “Insight on the daily life of a investigative reporter on Maui.” The event is open to the public and a suggested donation of $5 to cover food and beverage costs is welcomed. Akaku: Maui Community Television & Aging with Aloha Celebrates Kupuna Recognition Day, Saturday, July 25 at MCC from 9am-4pmpicture-12

Akaku: Maui Community Television is celebrating Kupuna Recognition Day with Aging with Aloha Coalition at the 1st Annual “Embracing Aging: Keiki to Kupuna” Festival on Saturday, July 25 from 9am-4pm at Maui Community College (MCC). The festival is for all age groups from Keiki to Kupuna and will include free admission, parking, live entertainment, food, and fun activities.

This weekend at the festival Aging With Aloha Coalition, formerly called the Long-Term Care Partnership, is redefining what it “means to age well” by increasing awareness about aging and offering supportive services to Maui’s Kupuna.

Akaku: Maui Community Television (Akaku) empowers the community's voice through access to media. Akaku is a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation that airs content created by the community for the community. Community members on Maui, Moloka'i, and Lana'i are encouraged to submit programming to the station, create their own television shows and have their voices heard by fellow community members.
