David Fisher’s Receipt of the Mayor’s Small Business Community Service Award Coincides Positively with Board’s Annual Meeting David Fisher

It’s always nice to open up the local newspaper and see positive news about a fellow friend, colleague, or in our case, board member.

A little more than a week ago, the Maui News wrote an article about David Fisher, who joined the board of Akaku: Maui Community Television last summer, and has been positively helpful to us ever since.

Fisher received the Community Service Award at last month’s Mayor’s Small Business Awards ceremony for nearly 20 years of providing advice through the Hawaii Small Business Development Center. According to the Maui News, Fisher “taught the first Internet classes on Maui” and also offered a regular course for those “Starting a Venture”. He now has his own consulting business called MauiVenture Consulting LLC. (more…)

Tina Lia and Howard SelnickThe Board of Akaku: Maui Community Television announced the results for the Producers’ Elections at its Board of Directors meeting on Friday, Oct. 16 and appointed Tina Lia and Howard Selnick to fill the two vacant Producers seats on Friday, Oct. 30. Akaku’s Board of Directors Appoints Five New Board Members to Serve in the Public at-Large, Educational & Governmental Seats

The Akaku: Maui Community Television Board of Directors appointed five new members to serve on its board during its most recent televised meeting on Aug. 7. Elle Cochran, Don Couch, Blaise Noto, Alberto Rojas, Jr. and David Tamanaha are the Board’s newest members filling the government, educational, and public at-large (community member) posts. (more…)

Akaku: Maui Community Television (Akaku) empowers the community's voice through access to media. Akaku is a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation that airs content created by the community for the community. Community members on Maui, Moloka'i, and Lana'i are encouraged to submit programming to the station, create their own television shows and have their voices heard by fellow community members.
