Salons and Workshops
Akaku holds bi-weekly Salons and Workshops that supplement the education program. On the second Friday of each month (from 6pm to 8pm), Akaku hosts “Producers Night”, which offers community producers and participants a monthly opportunity to connect with one another, meet potential collaborators, and to address their wishes for the future of Akaku in an open forum with their peers and counterparts. “Producers Night” is free for participants.
Akaku also holds monthly workshop sessions and a guest speaker series that feature specialized lessons or ideas that may be based outside of the scope of the basic Education program, but are still pertinent to creating effective content. Keep an eye on the Education Calendar to catch these one-time-offered courses. These events are FREE and open to the public, but donations are always welcome!
Akaku: Maui Community Television (Akaku) empowers the community's voice through access to media. Akaku is a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation that airs content created by the community for the community. Community members on Maui, Moloka'i, and Lana'i are encouraged to submit programming to the station, create their own television shows and have their voices heard by fellow community members.
