Announces the Summer Session Dates for 2018 –June 5th – July 7th – Two Sessions – 12 openings

www.dev.akaku.orgKahului, Hawaii: Akakū is Mauiʻs only non-profit TV Station providing mobile video training for Maui Nui youth. Youth Broadband Education Awareness Mentoring (YBEAM) offers youth 12 – 18 years the opportunity to become a Certified Mobile Producer and learn the fundamentals of video production, media ethics, broadband and journalism with hands-on training.

Mobile journalism, ʻmojoʻ, focuses on short format, community storytelling using iPod Touches.YBEAM covers media literacy, media democracy and social issues through reflection and round-table discussion. It also helps youth build confidence through civic engagement. Certifying offers additional media opportunities at Akakū!

Kat Tracy is the Education Director at Akakū and facilitates YBEAM. There are only 12 spaces available for both summer sessions… 7 class sessions + a final field day. (Mobile Video Kits & snacks provided). Please join us for this summer series.
