Earth Day Will Last All Week on Akakū! Watch it at 6pm April 22nd on Akakū Red Channel 54

(KAHULUI)  On Monday, April 22, 2019 millions of people will be celebrating Earth Day with festivities planned all around the planet. On Akakū Maui Community Television Channel 54 the celebration will last throughout the week. For the first time in its twenty-seven year history,

Akakū will premiere EARTHWEEK, which is five days of spectacular original programs about our beautiful planet and our life together on Maui. According to Director of Programming, Dana Fulton, “Starting at 6 pm on Monday, April 22nd and continuing 24 hours a day until April 29th, you are likely to see something wonderful and eye-catching about our island and our earth most all of it featuring or produced by Maui Nui residents.”

Highlights include the U.S. Television Premiere of “Breath of Life” a stunning cinemascape of how native Hawaiian thinking can show us the way to re-establish an authentic relationship to our world; The Humpback Code by the creator of the Maui Ocean Center’s immersive whale experience; Red Turtle Rising, an award-winning film about Hawaii’s Hawksbill turtles, Rain Follows the Forest with Jason Scott Lee; Haleakala; A Sense of Place; films by kids,and hundreds of programs and events from Maui Nui’s glorious past including lava surfing, Maui in the 1950’s  and the Hana Hoolaulaulea from 1970
