“Hemp Revolution” with Steve Rose from Maui Hemp Institute

Steve Rose is the Chief “Hempster” of the Maui Hemp Institute for Research & Development (MHIRD) is dedicated to maximizing the potential for hemp production on Maui. Is it possible that hemp could replace sugar cane as a primary crop?
The instituteʻs view is…with more than 30 microclimates on Maui and three growing seasons, research into hemp cultivars can be matched to various worldwide climates with accelerated results. U.S. hemp industries have seen hemp growth and proven economic agricultural success. According to Vote Hemp, over 25,000 acres of hemp were harvested on the Mainland in 2017.
Steve Rose is a recently-retired Business Enrichment Consultant who helped many Maui start-ups and small businesses turn into successful enterprises. He served as Chairperson for the Made in Maui Trade Association for 6 years. Four years ago he created the not-for-profit Maui Hemp Institute for Research & Development.
Presentation: Steve will give us a short presentation on “Maui’s Hemptastic Future” and the Maui Hemp Institute for Research & Developmentʻs plans for the production of hemp. He will share how MHIRD will support future sustainable agriculture, products, housing and soil/water remediation.
