Kihei Charter School, Enrollment, Programs and More… with Gene Zarro

Kihei Charter School is an innovative public school serving students in grades K-12. Gene Zarro, a founder of KCS and CEO of South Maui Learning Ohana, Inc., (the founding organization of KCS) will be sharing enrollment opportunities and school programs to create a greater awareness of Kihei Charter School, at the same time shining a light on some of the misconceptions about KCS, including that there is tuition. KCS is a FREE public school like any other open to all… at no cost. They take students from all areas of Maui County, not just Kihei and the school is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).

Kihei Charter School is the first STEM school in Hawaii. (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). This school focuses on 21st-century skills and blended education. As students move through each grade, they are facilitated towards unique learning opportunities beyond the four walls of the school.

These include college courses for dual credits offered through the Running Start Program in partnership with the University of Hawaii. Online courses offered through K12.com… along with internships, independent projects, and senior projects. Learn about project-based learning, comprehensive student support services, and special education programs.

Presentation: Gene’s presentation will explain how Kihei Charter School (KCS) came to be, how charter schools differ from other schools and how they help build life skills. He will go over the application/lottery process for the new school year 2019/2020 and give the deadline information for applications. He’ll also share the KCS evolution with the country-wide charter movement, along with project-based learning.
