Akakū hosts three 10-week Salon Seasons in Spring, Summer, and Fall during which speakers are scheduled every Thursday evening from 6:00 pm-7:30 pm. Many of the Salons include film segments or slide presentations that are recorded for broadcast later to air on Akakū TV’s Channel 55, Sunday at 8:00 pm.

He served as Chairperson for the Made in Maui Trade Association for 6 years. Four years ago he created the not-for-profit Maui Hemp Institute for Research & Development.
Ignite A Life, a non-profit, dba Hawaii Leaders Core, has been opening doors for the youth of our island community, sponsoring attendance at various renowned youth leadership summits across the globe, including San Diego, United Kingdom and Australia. Co-founders of Ignite A Life are the mother-son team of Robin and Alex Muto. Alex is now 20 and leads the Hawaii Leaders Core. Robin is the CEO of Ignite A Life the 501(c)(3)
Matthew Thayer has been a photojournalist at the Maui News for 38 years and still going strong. He's had his eye on daily life here on Maui including local sports, community activities and special events around the island. He has also reported on bell-weather events like the "miracle landing" of Aloha Airlines Flight 243 and the end of commercial sugar cane on Maui.
