Please join us for a special screening of the movie, HALEAKALA: “A SENSE OF PLACE” produced and directed by Maui filmmaker, Jay April. This is more than a film about a sacred mountain. It is a journey into the heart of the Wao Akua, a place the Hawaiians called, “Realm of the Gods”.

This is the story, beautifully told, of how Haleakala, House of the Sun, has risen from the sea to become one of the most diverse and beautiful volcanoes on earth. Home to Polynesian Gods and Goddesses, refuge for rare birds and plants, learning sanctuary for astronomers, beacon and source for voyaging canoes. This film will be screened at “Akakū Upstairs” just above the Akakū Studios. You won’t want to miss it!

Presentation: Special screening of the film followed by Q and A with Jay April  to discuss the making of the film.
