Akakū Upstairs: The History and Art of Hula Implement Making

Kapono and Kanoenani Kamaunu, owners of Na Kani O Hula, LLC and Halau Manaiakalani will be discussing the art & history of hula implement making. Kapono and Kanoenani will share their personal experiences utilizing both traditional & modern tools, along with traditional Hawaiian methods.  The goal for this presentation is to showcase the beautiful art of the Hawaiian hula implements, both in its raw and completed forms. The presentation is for hula enthusiasts alike (both novice and experts) to learn, understand, appreciate, and ultimately preserve this art form.
