Akakū Offers Introduction to Public Access TV Class in September…

KAHULUI – Akakū Maui Community Media invites any resident of Maui County who is interested in learning about public access television to join a free Introduction to Akakū and Public Access Media class on Monday, September 9 from 4:00 – 6:00 pm at Akakū Maui Community Media, 333 Dairy Rd., Suite 104, in Kahului. The class will be repeated on Monday, September 23.
This free orientation to Akakū’s facilities, services, policies, and procedures provides the foundation for all other video production classes at Akakū. You’ll learn why public access TV came to be, how it works, and the role it plays in our community. You will also receive a class handbook detailing Akaku’s policies and a tour of the Akakū Studios.
This class is a prerequisite for all other TV production classes at Akakū but may be taken concurrently.

Akakū Maui Community Media is a nonprofit free-speech cable television station dedicated to empowering our community’s voice through access to media. Any resident of Maui County can submit their own TV shows to be aired on Akakū’s three channels, 53/54/55.
