Akakū Upstairs: KAPU: Sacred Hawaiian Burials Film Screening with Q&A

 

Our September 21, 2023 event features a full screening of the movie ʻKAPU: Sacred Hawaiian Burialsʻ, a documentary by Hawaii Island filmmaker, Keoni Alvarez. The film follows his and his familyʻs discovery of an ancient burial cave holding

their ancestors remains, and thir attempts to save it from private development. The program will include Q&A with Keoni Alvarez and Maui Hawaiian burial advocate, Clare Apana.

Akakū Upstairs is a public engagement event to “Elevate Community & Conversation“.

Thursday, September 21, 2023. Doors open at 5:15, event is 5:30pm-8pm.
